SUSTAIN-3D (Supporting SME Transformation within 3DP )
We have identified a certain willingness of companies to invest in additive manufacturing machinery (3D Printers) and other technologies related to this. But the companies are not gaining the expected outcomes: Machines aren't utilized to the full potential and as production grade machines are expensive the companies are hesitant to invest in the machines they need and implementation on the production- and management floor is not optimal.
This problem is identified in local company networks and best illustrated by the average deployment of already installed machinery like metal 3D-printers of below 3%.
Preliminary studies of the problem points to complex causes like:
- lack of skilled workers (digital skill)
- challenges in day-to-day implementation/uptake
- lack of innovators
- lack of the ability to share machinery across companies and educational institutions (infrastructure)
The goal is to create recommendations for actions to local stakeholders in the regions attending the project.
- Region Halland (pending)
- Aalborg University (pending)
We are looking for regional partners in the North Sea Region with focus on technology sharing in close collaboration with SMEs:
- Educational institutions
- Clusters
- Business and regional development agencies
- Municipalities and regions
Existing triple-helix partners (public, private, education) within the area of interest is preferred.
Project type: Small Scale
Deadline: 14.11.2022
