Did your project have success? Put a jewel in your crown by showcasing your project on the European scene.
The Directorate General for EU Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) is relaunching the iconic REGIOSTAR Awards. The jury is looking for the very best projects leaving a strong legacy behind in six categories.
Why you should apply
The REGIOSTARS Awards is Europe’s label of excellence for EU-funded projects demonstrating the impact and inclusiveness of regional development.
Being nominated as a finalist shines a light on your project and the partners behind it. This helps others to discover and use your work.
Interreg North Sea projects joined the REGIOSTARS finals in 2020 (HyTrEc2) and in 2021 (DRYPORT and BEGIN). BEGIN even took home the Public Choice Award.
The competition is usually very stiff but do not let that deter you! Your amazing achievements might make your project a winning one.
Who can apply?
Only completed projects may apply this time. You may join this contest if you have completed all project activities, submitted your final report, and received your final payment by 31 May 2023.
Also, your project must demonstrate impressive tangible benefits and impacts.
Categories
The 2023 contest covers a broad range of themes in six categories:
- A competitive and smart Europe
- A green Europe
- A connected Europe
- A social and inclusive Europe
- A Europe closer to the citizens
- Topic of the year (European Year of Skills)
You must apply in one category. You can learn more about what is behind these headlines in the applicant guide available here.
How it works
Each Interreg programme may endorse a maximum of five projects for the contest. Therefore, the first step is to draft your application and send it to the Joint Secretariat.
We will select up to five projects based on the criteria used for the contest. On 12 May, we will inform all applicants about the selection.
We will provide an official endorsement letter to the selected applicants who can now submit their application to the European Commission. This needs to happen by 31 May. The Commission expects to announce the finalists on 10 July.
The finalists will be subject to online voting for the Public Choice Award 14 September to 14 November. They will also be invited to pitch in Brussels during the #EURegionsWeek (9-12 October).
Finally, DG Regio will announce the winners at the REGIOSTARS ceremony on 16 November in Ostrava, the Czech Republic.
