Interreg cooperation across borders is vital for coastal protection in Denmark, says Per Sørensen from the Danish Coastal Authority.
The project MANABAS COAST mainstreams nature-based solutions to increase the climate resilience of coastal zones. The aim is to use natural elements such as sand dunes to protect the areas against threats such as sea level rise, storm surges, erosion, and heat stress.
The Danish Coastal Authority is one of 14 partners in six countries working together to scale up solutions. We asked Per Sørensen, Head of Coastal Research, about what difference this cooperation makes in the quest to keep the shores of Denmark safe.
MANABAS COAST works to expand the use of nature-based solutions in coastal zones at national and European level. It builds on the outcomes of the previous North Sea project Building with Nature.
