Université de Caen Normandie

We are proud to collaborate with the Université de Caen Normandie (UniCaen), a key academic partner providing cutting-edge research and modelling expertise in hydrogen and renewable energy systems through its LUSAC Laboratory.

As a multidisciplinary research centre, LUSAC (Laboratoire Universitaire des Sciences Appliquées de Cherbourg) brings together expertise from thermal engineering, electrical systems, and fluid dynamics. The lab plays an essential role in exploring innovative solutions for hydrogen production, storage, and integration with renewable energy, particularly in port and smart grid environments.

Within this project, LUSAC contributes to the development of a flexible modelling framework for green hydrogen systems — including production, storage (pressure and hydride-based), and distribution — allowing for simulation, optimisation, and economic scaling from individual ports to multi-port hubs. Their work also addresses energy system management, combining hydrogen with tidal, wind, and solar inputs in microgrids and cogeneration systems.

In parallel, the university brings valuable insight into social acceptance of hydrogen technologies. Through stakeholder mapping, survey design, and data analysis, LUSAC helps identify potential barriers and solutions to foster inclusive, community-backed implementation.
