Port of Esbjerg
We are proud to collaborate with the Port of Esbjerg, one of the four pilot ports where a dedicated hydrogen roadmap is being developed as part of this project. As Denmark’s leading offshore port and a frontrunner in green maritime transformation, Esbjerg plays a key role in shaping the future of hydrogen in the North Sea region.
With its position as Europe’s primary hub for shipping offshore wind turbines, the Port of Esbjerg (PoE) brings invaluable expertise in sustainable port operations and energy logistics. The port is actively aligning infrastructure development with the energy transition, helping position ports at the center of a hydrogen-driven future.
Within the consortium, Port of Esbjerg acts as an infrastructure provider, responsible for planning, piloting, and executing project-specific activities within the port. This includes establishing a detailed evaluation framework, guiding the implementation of hydrogen infrastructure, and contributing to the broader strategic direction of the Port H2 Valley.
The port is actively pursuing its ‘Getting to Zero’ decarbonization plan, with projects focused on producing green hydrogen, developing alternative fuels like ammonia and methanol, and implementing circular waste systems. With extensive hands-on experience and an ambitious roadmap, PoE is well equipped to lead complex hydrogen and sustainability projects at scale.
A driving force behind the Esbjerg Declaration — expanded in Ostend (2023) — the Port of Esbjerg has also co-founded the Offshore Wind Port Alliance with six North Sea ports, reinforcing the role of ports as key enablers of Europe’s energy transition.
