New Energy Coalition

We are proud to partner with New Energy Coalition, the lead partner within the NS H2V Ports project and the ecosystem coordinator for the Port of Den Helder. As a pioneering force in the energy transition, New Energy Coalition is committed to accelerating the shift toward a sustainable, hydrogen-based economy.

New Energy Coalition brings together more than 100 partners and members to drive impactful collaborations, share knowledge, and shape policy for the Dutch energy region. With a clear mission to be Drivers of Change, the coalition plays a central role in both regional and international efforts to create a cleaner energy future.

By fostering cross-sector cooperation and setting the agenda for today’s most pressing energy issues, New Energy Coalition ensures that innovations move beyond research into real-world application and impact.

With offices based in Groningen and Alkmaar in the Netherlands, the coalition is strategically positioned at the heart of the country’s hydrogen ecosystem. In the NS H2V Ports project, New Energy Coalition leads on both innovation and ecosystem development, ensuring strong integration between system design, policy frameworks, and local stakeholders — including its coordination role for the Port of Den Helder.

About New Energy Coalition

New Energy Coalition is a centre of expertise as well as a network organization, building bridges between academia, industry, and government to support the energy transition from every angle — technical, legal, social, and spatial.

The coalition’s focus lies in three strategic pillars:

  • Green Molecules: As gases like hydrogen become key players in the energy system, New Energy Coalition leads the charge in innovation, production, and application.

  • System Integration: Tomorrow’s energy system will be more decentralized and diverse. The coalition develops integrated solutions to ensure efficiency, resilience, and societal alignment.

  • Human Capital: Knowledge sharing is crucial. Through education and training, New Energy Coalition empowers a future-ready workforce equipped to tackle the challenges of the energy transition.

Their Research and Innovation Programme places particular emphasis on System Integration and Green Molecules, combining applied science with policy and practical solutions. By working closely with companies, institutions, and governments, the coalition ensures that innovations translate into tangible progress.
