H2 Kenniscafé

The energy transition in and around the Port of Den Helder is in full swing, with hydrogen playing a crucial role. Last Thursday, at the inspiring H2 Kenniscafe hosted by the innovation center METIP in Den Helder in the Netherlands, over fifty attendees were updated on several remarkable projects driving this transformation forward. Additionally, the Omgevingsdienst Noordzeekanaalgebied (NZKG) provided practical guidance on ensuring a smooth permitting process. The event culminated in the official kick-off of the European hydrogen project, North Sea Hydrogen Valley Ports.

The North Sea Hydrogen Valley Ports (NS H2V Ports) initiative marks a significant step toward an integrated hydrogen future. In this project, New Energy Coalition collaborates with international partners and Ontwikkelingsbedrijf Noord-Holland Noord to develop a comprehensive hydrogen Master Plan for the ports of Den Helder, Esbjerg, Bremen, and Brest. This initiative focuses not only on hydrogen production and infrastructure development but also on pioneering hydrogen-powered vessels. By sharing knowledge and experiences, this international cooperation aims to mitigate risks and accelerate the maritime energy transition.

A big thank you to METIP in Den Helder for hosting this engaging event and to the organizers of the H2 Knowledge Café. This initiative is a joint effort by New Energy Coalition and Ontwikkelingsbedrijf Noord-Holland Noord and is part of the Regio Deal Maritiem Cluster Kop van Noord-Holland program.

We were also pleased to welcome key industry stakeholders, including Statkraft, TEAL Mobility, and Omgevingsdienst Noordzeekanaalgebied, whose participation enriched discussions and further strengthened the network driving hydrogen innovation forward.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue working towards a sustainable hydrogen-powered future!
