
Lights, Camera, Action: Do you want to get your project on the big screen?
Then join in the fun and take part in the North Sea Video Contest 2025. This is your chance to inspire, engage, and amplify the impact of your project beyond its usual circles - and have some fun along the way. This is the fifth North Sea Video Contest, and if the entries are anything like those from previous years, we really have something to look forward to!
Why participate?
- Winning videos will be featured at the North Sea Conference 2025 in Oldenburg, Germany – with awards presented live.
- All eligible videos will be showcased on our YouTube channel and actively used in our communications throughout the year.
- Enhance your skills in video making and enjoy creating content together with your project peers.
Contest Categories

Category 1 – Put your project in the spotlight
Social media style – Stop the scroll
- The video can be maximum 20-30 seconds.
- This should be the commercial for your project - imagine you are explaining it to a stranger.
- You should raise interest and create curiosity about your project.
- Bring across the context of transnational cooperation in the North Sea Region.
- Leave the technical detail behind.

Category 2 – Our impact
Showcase the real change your project has made
- The video can be maximum 2 minutes long.
- The video should highlight the impacts of your project: What has the project changed? What activities have been continued?
- The video should convince the viewer about the value of Interreg and cooperation – especially in the longer term.
- This category is also open to projects from past programmes.

Category 3 – Free for all (open category)
Go wild - this is your chance to make your project shine
- The video can be maximum 1-minute long.
- Can you demonstrate / show in an innovative and fun way how your project engages with citizens, helps to combat climate change, supports the development of rural areas, etc.
- Go wild – surprise us! We leave it up to your imagination.

Guiding Principles: What are we looking for?
The jury will evaluate the quality of entries according to the following principles:
- Level of creativity: This includes the idea behind your video and the means used to get your message across. We are looking for captivating content that triggers people’s emotions, curiosity, or sense of humour.
- Quality of execution: How well is the video structured – does the story or message come together nicely, and do visuals and sounds underpin the main storyline? Does the sound work properly? Note: In this respect, it matters less if your video has been produced by professionals or has been done with simple equipment such as a smartphone.
- Fit to the relevant category: Remember to check the category definitions and make sure to your video entry fits with the one under which you are submitting your entry.
Eligibility Criteria
Your video must meet the following criteria:
- Stay within the maximum duration: ‘Put your project in the spotlight’ maximum 20-30 seconds, ‘Our impact’ maximum 2 minutes, and ‘Free for all (open category)’ maximum one minute.
- It uses English language and/or includes subtitles in English for any spoken parts.
- It meets all relevant programme and EU publicity requirements.
- You own or have full copyright to any music or visuals included.
- You may submit one video entry per category. You cannot submit the same video in more than one category.
- Completed projects (from prior programme periods) are only eligible to join in category 2 (impact).
- You may resubmit videos that were part of a previous year's contest. However, winners and runners-up from previous years may not be re-submitted.
- People appearing in your videos must have given their consent to be featured.

The deadline for submission is 6 May 2025 - end of day.
A jury of national programme representatives will judge all of the entires and award a winner in each of the three categories.
