About us

Welcome to COOL CITIES!

We’re a diverse group of public authorities, sectoral agencies, and knowledge institutions, all coming together to tackle one of the biggest challenges of our time: climate change. Our team includes Gemeente Middelburg, Gemeente Rotterdam, Stadt Göttingen, Stadsbyggnadsförvaltningen Göteborgs stad, Communauté d’Agglomération du Pays de Saint-Omer (CAPSO), Ville de Saint-Omer, Stad Sint-Niklaas, Zentrum für Energie, Bauen, Architektur und Umwelt GmbH (ZEBAU), Hogeschool van Amsterdam (AUAS), and HafenCity Universität (HCU). Leading the charge is Gemeente Arnhem.

COOL CITIES brings together experienced leaders and fresh voices in the field of heat resilience in urban areas. Each partner brings unique experiences and innovative ideas to the table, creating a dynamic team dedicated to making our cities more resilient to heat.

Why are we here? It’s simple. We want to develop and implement a city-wide Cool Network to ensure our cities are prepared for rising temperatures. This project builds on our ongoing efforts in climate adaptation, and we’re excited to share our journey with you.

Our key deliverable is a comprehensive roadmap—a step-by-step guide on how to achieve a heat-resilient city. This roadmap will be an invaluable tool for any city looking to develop and implement effective climate adaptation strategies.
