Partner HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht is seeking mobility providers to help refine their location scan model by integrating real-world data as part of our project. Collaborate to optimise shared mobility hub planning!
The HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht is conducting a research on shared mobility hubs in collaboration with the Province of Utrecht and GoedOpWeg as part of ShareDiMobiHub. As part of this initiative, we have developed a location scan for shared mobility, which uses 10 distinct spatial characteristics to rank locations based on their potential success for shared mobility. These factors include, among others, demographics, public transportation, green ideas of the residents and points of interest. So far, we have applied this model to evaluate every intersection in the Province of Utrecht for various modes of transport.
In the next phase of the research we will focus on calibrating the model. While all spatial characteristics are currently given equal weight, their relative importance likely varies. Determining these weights from literature and expert-interviews alone is challenging. Therefore we aim at connecting with shared mobility service providers and collaborate with them on calibrating the model using their data. This way we can deliver a model that is fully calibrated to their business model. Finally, we will publish a guide on how to perform this location-scan, so the scan can be performed for other case studies by students, researchers or others that are eager to learn about shared-mobility locations.
