One of the cross-cutting knowledge themes within MoLo hubs is “spatial planning and city design”. In this topic we explore how hubs should be designed and located to strengthen its usage and contribute to spatial quality.
The reason is that we would like to develop hubs that are attractive for its users but that are also supported by others members of the local community.

The goal of this guideline report is to assist host partners in setting up their pilot by providing considerations and good practices relating to:
1) the hub design
2) the contribution that hubs can bring to ambitions in the neighborhood like accessibility, greening and social safety
It also provides a list of actors/departments that should be considered to involve during the set-up of the pilot as well as a list of additional functions/facilities that could be considered in the design of the hub.
During the MoLo Hubs pilots, we will collect and analyse data from the five cities on this topic. The results and recommendations will be summarized in a White paper in 2026.
