The mobicoach: benefits
South West Flanders is a dynamic, business-driven region with countless small and large companies. Growth and new start-ups mean more employees and, inevitably, more commuting. With heavy traffic and daily congestion, accessibility is key - not just for customers, but for staff and suppliers, too. The mobicoach can help navigate these challenges.
Instead of seeing sustainable commuting as a hurdle, turn it into a unique selling point in today’s competitive job market:
- Position a company as a forward-thinking employer that values smart mobility solutions
- Attract young talent and future employees looking for companies with strong sustainability and climate commitments
- Reduce CO2 emissions while improving road safety and easing traffic flow in the area
- Save employees from endless hours stuck in traffic
- Free up valuable and costly space otherwise used for parking
- Employees who cycle to work are healthier and more productive
- The Flemish government encourages sustainable commuting, offering tax incentives to businesses that embrace greener transport options
The mobicoach: services
Shift smoothly towards an efficient mobility policy
Business strategy and company image influence who you attract. That’s why mobility should be a fundamental part of daily operations, not just a one-off initiative. As an experienced mobility expert with an extensive network, the mobicoach takes the pressure off, providing guidance and support every step of the way.
The road towards sustainable commuting follows three key steps:
Analysis
Good decisions start with a solid analysis. We use the Treffik tool, which offers objective insights into commuting patterns and sustainability potential. What steps has your company already taken towards greener commuting? By first gaining a clear picture of the current situation and opportunities for improvement, we can provide tailored advice. We complete the tool together, and within 15 minutes, we’ll have personalised results.
Tailored advice
Once we have the analysis, it’s time to set goals. Together with the company, we determine where they want to focus their efforts and which measures best suit the company. For implementation, we connect the company with our high-quality network of service providers, all carefully selected for their expertise and competitive pricing.
Guidance (optional)
Now it’s the company’s turn to put the plan into action, supported by our trusted partners. The mobicoach can assist further by setting up initial discussions, helping to organise an information event, or comparing quotes. The actual technical work and follow-up remain the company’s responsibility.
At every stage, the mobicoach considers the company’s unique context, ensuring practical, tailored solutions. In addition to the initial analysis, they can opt for an affordable subscription model, allowing ongoing support to keep your mobility strategy in motion.
The mobicoach: background
Mobility moves over time
The mobicoach has come a long way to become the mobility expert he is today. Now, he’s here to support and guide businesses in transitioning to sustainable, realistic commuting solutions. The concept grew out of several key projects:
Smart commuting project ‘Samen slimmer naar het werk’
Supported by VLAIO, this project explored various ways to optimise commuting. The benefits are not only economic, ecological, and spatial, but also health-related. In South West Flanders, for instance, many employees live within cycling distance of work. To facilitate greener commuting, we developed a geoportal that businesses could use freely. This was the birthplace of the mobicoach concept.
SHARE-North
The mobicoach methodology was further developed within the Interreg SHARE-North project. This initiative helped refine the approach and test it in real-life scenarios. We discovered that while many companies have great potential to adopt sustainable commuting practices, SMEs often lack the time or resources to manage mobility policies independently.
Mobility Makers
Through the Mobility Makers project, the mobicoach will be fully integrated into Leiedal’s operations, evolving into a comprehensive service. We will also be working on partnership agreements to further enhance the service and ensure tailored support for businesses.
