Wondering about Kolding School of Design?
At Kolding School of Design, we explore how to live and how to create positive change. We try to solve problems and envision new possibilities. Because the world is calling for change. For sustainability, community, and a good life for everyone. So, it’s not just about filling our lives with more stuff but about improving – and sometimes even transforming – what already is. Making it more beautiful, functional, playful, and appealing. It’s about listening to people’s needs and including them in developing new solutions.
What is our contribution to the MM project?
DSKD contributes with expert knowledge on utilizing design anthropological methods to understand and integrate citizens’ barriers and drivers for change in mobility behaviors. We support Region Midtjylland in understanding local citizens’ mobilities needs, wants, and desires and how these unfold in the citizens’ everyday lives. We translate such needs, wants, and desires into less resource-intensive mobility practices through participatory methods. We also support the knowledge partners in developing, implementing, and evaluating the project’s living labs.
Why are we in the MM project?
In the design field, we currently see a move where many designers supplement the product-oriented design processes of the studio by exploring what design competencies are and can do in an expanded field of networked relations between citizens, public sector organizations, and private companies. Our participation in the MM project allows us to explore the potential of this move. We aim to contribute to the transition towards less resource-intensive and – hopefully – more attractive everyday mobilities in rural areas.
