Wondering about our region?
The « communauté de communes de La terre des 2 caps » (CCT2C), 2 capes district council is a group of 21 communes working together on a common project (22.000 inhabitants). The main town is Marquise. The CCT2C combines 3 different types of landscape: the sea side, the rural area and the quarries area. A major part of the territory is included in the “Grand Site de France des 2 caps”, it is indeed a very touristic area.
What’s our purpose?
Within the whole district, the municipalities pool their resources and offer services that meet the needs of their inhabitants and the various aspects of their daily lives. As the Mobility Organizing Authority, the district is carrying out several projects such as:
- The introduction of a purchase bonus and long-term rental service for electric bikes,
- The development of a carpool area near the A16 highway,
- School transport for pupils in certain municipalities of the territory;
- The development of a cycling master plan and its animation in order to develop the layout of cycle tracks itineraries, their maintenance, bicycle parking and signage.
What do we want to achieve within the project?
The implementation of a purchase bonus and service “Developing mobility solutions for rural areas is not easy. The use of a private car is often the quickest and easiest solution. We believe that mobility habits need to change and that appropriate solutions must be implemented. The Marquise-Rinxent railway station, located between Calais and Boulogne-sur-Mer, is a major asset. We believe that the bike/train intermodality is a trigger to make this transition successful. Our project focuses on:
- The installation of bike boxes at the back of the station, with access control. The power supply would be made through a self-contained energy solution via photovoltaic solar panels,
- The securing and development of cycle routes concerns the area between the Marquise-Rinxent station and the centre of Marquise.
Experiences from other territories can be inspiring and sometimes help to deconstruct misconceptions. We are very willing to learn from other rural regions in order to know and develop their methods and solutions.
