Wondering about our region?

The community of communes of Desvres-Samer (CCDS) is an association of 31 communes, homes to 23 290 residents, situated in the Hauts-de-France region.
It is a predominantly rural area, marked by a bocage landscape and hilly terrain.
The CCDS is located near major urban centers, such as Boulogne-sur-Mer and Saint-Omer, located less than 30 minutes' drive away, but also Calais and Dunkirk. It is an attractive territory for a population looking for a place of predominantly rural life but working in more urban areas. Thus, a third of workers living in a CCDS municipality work outside the CCDS.

As a mobility organizing authority, the CCDS wishes to consolidate and develop sustainable and alternative mobility across its territory and towards neighboring territories in order to limit the use of individual cars in daily travel (home- school, home-work).

What’s our purpose?

With a view to meeting the expectations and mobility needs of residents, the CCDS installed around ten electric charging stations in 2022 and then developed a car-sharing service in 2023. Engaged in the development of a cycling plan, the CCDS wishes to engage in a real “cycling” policy, and make cycling more attractive for everyone and promote active mobility for daily travel.

Learning to cycle from a very young age as well as the development of cycle paths within the territory and towards neighboring territories are levers of action to promote eco-mobility, the practice of sport but also to make the territory attractive and preserve quality of life.

What do we want to achieve within the project?

With MM, the CCDS wishes to immerse itself in actions on alternative mobility carried out in territories with the same characteristics (rurality, daily use of individual cars), identify mobility issues and find levers for change to promote mobility. soft. The CCDS wishes to draw inspiration from sustainable solutions already implemented at European level in order to be able to apply them to its territory.

In return, it will be able to provide its expertise on the solutions it has implemented and provide data on the obstacles identified for each target audience.
