POM Oost-Vlaanderen specializes in optimizing transport systems, acting as a reliable intermediary for private companies, and demonstrating expertise in identifying the needs of SMEs and promoting modal shift opportunities. POM possesses an extensive business network related to Inland Waterways.
Role in the Project
In the project, our organization plays a vital role in Work Package (WP) 2 and WP3:
WP2:
- Focuseing on economic assessment (private and public effects) of the Living Lab Ghent and provides support for the pilots.
- Assessing the feasibility of the TRL level of various innovations of the Belgian Freight Flow Coalitions.
- Conducting studies on the feasibility of the 3 Freight Flow Coalitions (FF) and performs a SWOT analysis.
- Identifying investment possibilities for green, zero-emission vessels in collaboration with investment partner HXX.
- Quantifying the financial needs of the different freight flow coalitions to guide investment decisions.
WP3:
- Actively sharing and exchanging lessons learned with project partners.
Benefits of Participation
Participating in the InnoWaTr2.0 project offers several advantages to our organization:
- Allows POM to conduct active field research at SME shipping companies, enabling continuous improvement of their operational efficiency.
- Facilitates the detection of methods to execute trans-shipment towards waterways.
- Provides opportunities to move specific (new) cargo towards the waterways.
- Supports the expansion of our Inland Waterways (IWW) business network.
- Enhances its role as a neutral facilitator between private, public, and civil organizations, allowing us to better understand and facilitate freight flow coalition dynamics, thereby contributing to the sustainability of InnoWaTr2.0 results.
