About the area

Flood risks in this area
The Boulonnais territory is highly exposed to floods. It has a dense network of small streams and rivers, whose flow is similar to that of torrents.During heavy rains, water levels rise quickly, and the floods generated by the three main rivers rapidly cause flooding over several hundred hectares. The Boulonnais is subject to 4 types of flooding : river flooding, groundwater flooding, coastal flooding, pluvial / surface water flooding. In November 2023, Boulonnais territory faced extremes rainfalls with huge impacts. With climate change, the occurrence & severity of floods will continue to grow.

Contribution of the FIER project to this area
Through the FIER project, we aim to enhance flood awareness and preparedness among citizens and businesses. The project will also improve municipal crisis management plans and reduce the overall vulnerability of the community to flooding. This will help ensure better emergency response and resilience in the face of future flood events.
