The film “Une si longue marche” by Dominique Loreau is a fascinating film that follows Chinese mitten crabs as they migrate between the coast and inland. It shows how they are sometimes forced out of the water to bypass human obstacles. This creates striking scenes in Flemish cities or, for example, malfunctions in the cooling system of a nuclear power plant. It also causes very different reactions, speculations, and fantasies in the imagination of local residents.
On March 6th The film screening took place in UAntwerp and Clancy was attending as well. Before the film started, we had scientifically framed why the Chinese mitten crab is so important and highlighted the aims of CLANCY. Afterward, there was a reception to talk in a casual setting. Many representatives of different Water Management Agencies in Flanders were present, as well as interested ordinary people.
