Discussing the 'scaling jump' in Brussels
The BRAVE initiative has received an invitation to present at the upcoming European Union Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2025. Our session, titled "Breaking free from the pilot trap: scaling clean energy solutions in cities," aims to be a timely discussion on how to move beyond successful pilot projects and achieve widespread regional implementation of clean energy technologies.
The session will cover emerging business and investment models that are critical for navigating the often challenging "scaling jump." Attendees will gain valuable insights into practical strategies for transforming promising pilot projects into impactful, city-wide solutions.
BRAVE partners featured on the European stage
BRAVE has assembled a panel of key stakeholders from their partnership, each bringing unique perspectives and concrete examples:
- 🗣️ Daisy Visser from Gemeente Rotterdam will share the city's ambitious plan to bolster their Smart Energy Systems Programme. This includes leveraging a significant €10 million in private investment specifically aimed at supporting the growth and expansion of energy scale-ups within Rotterdam.
- 🗣️ Søren Winther Lundby from the City of Aarhus will present their innovative approach to scaling rooftop photovoltaic (PV) installations. Their strategy involves utilizing a publicly-owned Climate Company to achieve an impressive target of 70,000m² of roofspace covered with solar panels.
- 🗣️ Magnus Agerström from Cleantech Scandinavia will offer a broader ecosystem perspective. He will analyze the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders within local energy ecosystems, identifying which actors are best positioned to drive the successful scaling of clean energy solutions.
