With a diverse mix of climate officers and elected officials, the workshop's primary objective was to foster a deeper understanding around anaerobic digestion - and how local authorities can play a key role through innovative governance in biogas projects.

The session began with a succinct introduction on technical aspects of anaerobic digestion, offering participants a comprehensive view of the process, the regulations, and its role in sustainable energy production. This foundational understanding laid the groundwork for more in-depth discussions throughout the workshop.

An engaging Q&A session followed, where participants delved into the nuances of anaerobic digestion. Among the key topics explored were the various positive and negative impacts associated with anaerobic digestion projects, and the specific roles and responsibilities of local communities within these initiatives. This interactive exchange allowed for a deeper exploration of the complexities surrounding anaerobic digestion, enriching the participants' grasp of its implications.

One of the noteworthy highlights of the workshop was the discussion centred on the development of the 5 specific factsheets, based on the FAQ tool. Those specific factsheets, tailored during the 1st workshop  with local authorities, were validated during this workshop by the participants as effective tools for  elected officials. One of the main benefits mentioned from these specific sheets  were its visuals aspects, and the 1-topic-per-page feature. By equipping elected officials with essential details, the aim is to empower informed decision-making, ensuring that local officials play an active and informed role in the governance of new anaerobic digestion projects.
