On the 20th of December 2023, the BIOZE project reached an important stage as the University of Twente presented the first version of the digital mapping tool prototype during the monthly meeting.
The prototype includes data entries such as distance to farms, proximity to roads, and manure generated. These inputs are consolidated into a map, highlighting specific areas of interest. The tool serves a dual purpose: offering a combined map of entries and indicating potential locations for digesters based on nearby farms.
Outputs from the prototype include financial investment (in euros), biogas production, and CO2 reduction - key indicators that can help local officials evaluate the impacts on their climate and energy planification. The team aims to have a functional web-based version before the project concludes, emphasizing practical applications for sustainable practices in agriculture.
