3N Drives Discussion on 'Agriculture and Climate Protection' in Engaging Workshop
On 15.6.2023, 3N participated in a climate forum of the Heidekreis in Walsrode. Stakeholders from all areas of climate protection and energy supply were present. Dr Kürsten moderated the workshop.
During the event, Dr. Rottmannn-Meyer highlighted the presence of 73 biogas plants in the district. Given the challenging sandy soils, biomass production, primarily from maize, and its utilization for electricity and heat generation play a pivotal role in farmers' income.
As the 20-year subsidy period under the Renewable Energy Sources Act comes to an end, ensuring a profitable future for these plants necessitates an increased focus on utilizing heat in local heating networks. This approach not only guarantees regional electricity and heat supply but also calls upon municipalities and the district administration to lend their support by developing suitable concepts through their building administrations.
