The recent "Nieuwe Energiedag Oost-Nederland'' provided a platform for discussions on achievements in renewable energy, particularly highlighting progress in green gas development. The event, organized within the BIOZE-program and "Nieuwe Energie Overijssel," was combined with the BEON annual event, focusing on biomass utilization and renewable energy milestones in the past year.

The eastern part of the Netherlands has seen considerable development in green gas infrastructure, with numerous installations supported by regional network companies and municipalities. The day shed light on tools available to municipalities for incorporating green gas projects into their policies, aligning with the European BIOZE program, involving collaboration with partners from France, Germany, and Sweden.

A notable excursion took participants to the biogas hub in Oxe, featuring five interconnected small manure digesters supplying biogas to local facilities. The project, officially opened this year, is a joint venture supported by the province of Overijssel and the Energy Fund Overijssel, and it was organized in partnership with BEON-partner CCS.

International collaboration was evident with the presence of the German BIOZE-partner, 3N, represented by Director Dr. Marie-Luise Rottmann-Meyer. She provided insights into the developments of green gas and the bio-based economy in Lower Saxony. Marieke van der Werf (PGG/CCU-Alliantie) underscored the importance of green carbon and the future role of CO2 capture.

With 80 attendees from local governments and the biogas and bio-economy sectors, the event showcased a growing interest in green energy solutions. As the industry continues to progress, Nieuwe Energiedag Oost-Nederland remains a platform for pragmatic discussions on the path towards a more sustainable future.
