We look back on an interesting and informative first partner meeting of our Interreg North Sea project Building Based on BioBased (BBoBB) in the Provincie Fryslรขn. We started off with a word of welcome from BBoBB project manager Charlotte Strijbos, followed by pitches from the partners of all 5 regions involved in the BBoBB project.
Besides learning from each otherโs experiences, projects and plans, we had inspiring visits: We went to to Biosintrum, an impressive building that consists of 80% biobased materials. Petra Boorsma led us through the building and showed the variety of materials built.
After that we went to It Swettehรปs, a bridge control center from which all 40 bridges in Friesland are centrally operated. It Swettehรปs is a circular icon of Fryslรขn.
We ended the day at the Ritsumasyl Bridge, a cycling bridge made out of biocomposites.
All partners involved from Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany and the Netherlands are committed and motivated to get started with BBoBB. In the coming months, our focus will be on the first steps within the three defined work packages:
๐ค Strengthening governance and policy to scale up the biobased value chains.
๐ค Piloting biobased value chains in the North Sea region.
๐ค Design, raise awareness, involve industrial designers, architects and new clients.
Together we are committed to design, develop and strengthen the biobased value chains for the use of biobased materials in the North Sea region.
