Cities and municipalities are at the forefront of the energy transition. Decarbonising the heating and cooling sectors presents one of the biggest challenges and opportunities for local communities in the coming years. The recently revised Energy Efficiency Directive establishes the obligation for municipalities to draw up heating and cooling  plans for municipalities with more than 45.000 inhabitants. This event will explore what these sub-regional thermal plans could look like and provide recommendations for cities and municipalities.Webinar: Supporting municipalities and cities to draw future-proof heating and cooling plans – EUREC

Kortrijk explained what the WaterWarmth project stands for, which phase we are currently in, and what added value it is expected to bring to the energy transition. Two of our pilots are located in Kortrijk: the small-scale pilot at Howest and the large-scale pilot on Buda Island. The project gathers a great deal of data and information from these real-life examples to support other research within the WaterWarmth project.
