Marking the end of the first year of TREASURE, the project partners came together in Lemvig in May for the second time in person to share knowledge and further cultivate cooperation.

The TREASURE consortium collected plastic waste along the coast at Fjaltring

During the two-day get-together in Lemvig, the consortium covered administrative and informative sessions at the Klimatorium - Denmark's International Climate Center, during which EU regulations were revisited and project progress discussed. A number of interactive workshops allowed for a deep dive into the links between the four thematic pillars and entangle the needed cooperation for the development of useful tools.

The inspiring exchange during the workshop sessions at the Klimatorium were only topped by the field visit around Lemvig Municipality, organised by the hosts. The tour included sites of techincal interests, such as

  • Flynder Å, where a Camera is installed for monitoring plastic waste,

  • the pumping station in Høvsøre, where we observed water flows and plastic accumulation,

  • and the Harboøre Treatment Plant, where plastic waste at the inlet and outlet are monitored

But the TREASURE consortium also went hands-on to tackle the plastic problem by collecting and inspecting waste along the coast at Fjaltring.

The field visit reminded us again (not that we needed reminding) why the project is so important: at each stop, we were confronted with plastic waste scattered throughout the picture-perfect Danish landscape.
