Inland shipping entrepreneurs

  • No less than 80% of inland shipping entrepreneurs use shore-based power, although often sporadically (47%). 91% of them emphasize the need for more connection points.
  • Reasons for not using shore-based power are: limited availability (25%), higher costs (21%) and technical limitations (18%). However, 91% of this group would switch if these barriers were removed.
  • The choice of a port with shore power is mainly determined by available berths (30%) and available facilities (24.8%).
  • Inland shipping operators suggest improvements such as:

    • Affordable and accessible shore-based power facilities
    • More berths and improved infrastructure
    • Standardized and simple payment methods
    • Reliable and functional connections
    • Promotion and awareness about the benefits of shore power
