The adoption of shore power in inland navigation and costal shipping can be achieved using different concepts. Next to fixed OPS cabinets and (road-based) mobile OPS solutions, a group of Flemish companies and organizations looks into the technical, operational, legislative and financial constraints surrounding the use of a waterborne OPS solution in the VIL-project Floating Battery. This project is led by VIL, Flanders’ single point of contact for logistics innovation and largely financed by the Flemish Agency for Enterpreneurship and Innovation VLAIO.
During a project meeting on November 7th, held in the Board Room of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, SPIES’ lead partner POM Limburg had the opportunity to present SPIES’ ambitions and goals to this group. Several topics were touched upon, such as data uniformity, open access and the alignment of market needs and solutions.
