How can municipalities engage citizens in the transition towards climate-friendly lifestyles? What role do place-based approaches and participatory methods play in shaping sustainable urban futures? Join us as we explore disparities in carbon footprints, the challenges of promoting sustainable lifestyles, and sufficiency as a strategy for well-being beyond growth and efficiency. We’ll also introduce participatory methods that connect climate action to everyday life and give a good example of collaboration between practitioners and researchers in this context.

Key Themes

🔹 Unequal Emissions Within Municipalities – Understanding the disparities in carbon footprints and the role of targeted interventions.
🔹 Challenges in Promoting Climate-Friendly Lifestyles – Overcoming barriers to sustainable consumption and behavioral change.
🔹 Sufficiency as a Key Strategy – Rethinking sustainability beyond efficiency and growth.

Approach & Methodology

This webinar will highlight place-based and community-driven approaches, where lay citizens contribute their lived experiences to co-create solutions. We will explore participatory methods that foster deeper engagement, including:

  • Visioning – Developing shared aspirations for sustainable urban futures.
  • Urban Utopian Sketching – Imagining transformative possibilities for local areas.
  • Walk and Talk – Engaging citizens in on-the-ground discussions to connect climate strategies with everyday life.
