On 13-14 November, SMALL partners gathered in Saint-Quentin, France, to exchange on project progress, discuss challenges, and plan for the future.
Day 1: Co-creation in action
On Day 1, we kicked off our meeting with a co-creation workshop, reflecting on the successes and challenges in engaging communities. Key takeaways included the importance of creativity, clear action points, and meeting people where they are. Sessions on impact evaluation and communication strategies fine-tuned project goals and storytelling to enhance public impact.
Brainstorming on Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) then generated bold ideas for how to effectively integrate SMALL’s insights into urban planning.
Day 2: Focus on mobility and inclusion
The second day featured a presentation of Saint-Quentin’s recent inclusion efforts, including teaching sign language in nurseries, which helped the city win the Access City Award 2023.
This was followed by a lively cycling tour that retraced the pilot project's routes and highlighted the city’s efforts in active mobility, cheered on by residents.
The day also focused on gathering feedback and brainstorming for the next SMALL roundtable in Varberg, focused on embedding pilots into organisations for long-term success.
From creative storage solutions for rickshaws to uncovering barriers to adoption like tricycle stigma among seniors, the meeting helped reveal more practical, people-first approaches to mobility.
With strengthened collaboration and innovative ideas, our project continues to drive impactful change across Europe. Stay tuned for more!
