The ECOCHEM lab at RBINS is researching TNT and related compounds in sediments, seawater, and biota as part of REMARCO, assessing potential food chain risks. Using advanced methods like Solid Phase Extraction and GC-MS-QqQ analysis, and with ISO17025 certification for seawater TNT analysis, ECOCHEM ensures top-tier quality.
Current work includes analyzing samples from VLIZ and the Navy to evaluate the impact of UXO clearance and its long-term effects.
The next milestone is achieving certification for sediment and biota analysis.
