REMARCO Kickoff-Meeting in Bremerhaven, Germany

On 16th - 17th of August 2023, the recently approved North Sea Interreg Project REMARCO - Remediation, Management, Monitoring and Cooperation addressing North Sea UXO was launched at the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) in Bremerhaven, Germany. REMARCO focusses on the risks deriving from corroding and leaking munitions at seas, both for the ecosphere and humans. The project team aims to develop a risk assessment tool ready to be used by the competent authorities supposed to deal with the marine legacies of wars. Further, REMARCO will elaborate new state-of-the-art concepts for monitoring and evaluate different remediation methods.
