REMARCO joined Heincke Expedition to wreck and dumping sites in the German Bight

SeaTerra and VLIZ joined as REMARCO partners the RV Heincke expedition from 8th - 22nd March, 2024 to wreck- and dumping sites within the German Bight/North Sea. At the wreck sites of Light Cruiser SMS Ariadne and Barrier Breaker Vigo, VLIZ took sediment samples to search for bacteria able to degrade TNT and thereby acting as an indicator species for the presence of this pollution. In addition, SeaTerra tested their Crawler equipped with magnetometric sensors and a water sampling device right in the dumping site of conventional munition north of Spiekeroog.
