REMARCO conducted its 2nd project meeting at the Museum of Natural Science in the heart of the European Capital of Brussels from 16th - 17th January, 2024. Members of partner institutions and the advisory board participated and discussed in detail the planning concerning the upcoming expeditions and sampling campaigns at the designated pilot areas. REMARCO further welcomed Dr. Brian Lintott form the Tirpitz Site project of the Arctic University of Norway to the REMARCO AB and further agreed in adding the Tirpitz wreck site as pilot to REMARCO.
In addition, the newly funded Baltic Sea Munitions Remediation Roadmap Project MUNIMAP (BSR Interreg) was presented by its coordinator Prof. Dr. Jacek Beldowski from the Institute of Oceanology of Polish Academy of Science, Poland. It was agreed that REMARCO and MUNIMAP will cooperate insensively, exchange knowledge and support each other in raising awareness to the topic of munition at sea in both North- and Baltic Sea Regions.
