Two new partners will join the project this month: Disposal Collection Care and Blue Power Synergy. Siamak Elmi from Disposal CC explained their focus on waste management and how the data collection works during the process, while René Timmerman from Blue Power Synergy presented their bio-ethanol initiatives and introduced their energy generation and storage facilities.

Jesper Jönsson from the Interreg North Sea Programme Joint Secretariat provided a comprehensive project update on recent changes of the project and the funding programme.

The morning session included a workshop on onshore power. Maria Bos from PLUG AS presented on shore power construction and showcased the use of AI tools for prediction. Jens Henrik Møller from GEMBA presented the case of onshore power supply in the Danish pelagic fishing industry. Partners shared their diverse experiences in the electrification at the ports and discussed specific cases.

After lunch, the partners went on a trip to the habour, visiting various facilities. The new hydrogen production facility in Kaupanes is a part of the EU-funded ROBINSON H2020 project. The facility is launched by Norwegian companies Dalane Energi and Hydrogen Solution (HYDS). The shore power supply equipment with different voltages paves the way for Egersund to the goal of zero emissions.

After the inspiring field trip around Egersund, partners were back to the conference room and the Port of Egersund’s consultant – Prosjektil, presented findings on the production and uptake of green methanol within the port’s territory. The study maps locally available resources for E-methanol production, including CO2 from local fishing industries and green hydrogen from the green hydrogen plant in Kaupanes. For Biomethanol production, the study identifies wood chips available within the port’s territory.

The next day continued with updates and progress reports on pilots and solutions from all partners. We express our warm welcome to our new partners and look forward to a continuing transnational and inspiring exchanges and collaboration from all partners!
