On 30th-31st May, our joint stand "Interreg(ional) cooperation supporting the sustainable blue economy!" was presented on European Maritime Day 2024. Our representatives Stefan Breitenbach, Inga Gurries, Jens Møller, Kasper Teilmann and Jesper Krarup Rulffs presented five Interreg projects (Blue supply chains, green supply chains, REDII Ports, SPIES and DIOL) and had in-depth communication with the visitors.

On this year’s European Maritime Day, sustainability & blue economy are the core topics. In maritime industry, ports play a vital role, serving as gateways for trade and economic development. Ports are not only important for traditional cargo transportation, but also have a significant impact on marine living and non-living resources, renewable energy, coastal tourism, etc. Challenges like sustainability, green transformation and digitalization are crucial for port authorities to address. Therefore, our team participated the workshop session with the topic ‘‘Ports development for sustainable blue economy’’. Port of Hamburg and port of Venice were taken as example. Stefan Breitenbach and Inga Gurries from Hafen Hamburg Marketing presented their individual experience of promoting the sustainable development of ports. Last but not least, they shared its journey and experience to become a sustainable energy hub.

Projects such as REDII Ports play an important role of bringing together stakeholders, enabling fruitful discussions between them and leading to actions to find best possible solutions.
