Six parties gathered in Egersund on October 24th discussing the material flows within Port of Egersund and mapped the current state of resource streams of three different ports: Port of Egersund, Port of Skagen and Port of Zwolle. The goal of this mapping was to identify resources that have potential for valorisation (for example energy or upcycling for other use cases). Eventually, together with partners in work package 3, we work towards digitalising these material flows in Ports in a green resource platform, where supply can meet demand.
The visit in Egersund was also used to meet with local organisations in the fishing industry, waste collectors and other parties. We talked about the general concept of circular economy, different kind of material streams in the various organisations and shared our thoughts on how to make sure those materials will get new economic value. The first step is to gather more specific data on specific materials to get an insight in the different streams. After that, the process is to think about valorising the streams. Lastly, we looked at other examples of industrial or regional symbiosis inside and outside of Norway.
