At the beginning of October, Cities, partners, and experts from across Europe and beyond came together, to drive forward the Sustainable Transformation of our urban spaces.🌐

This gathering was a unique opportunity to collaborate, share knowledge, and innovate towards a greener, more resilient future. At the conference exhibition area, the MoLo Hubs project presented the sustainable solutions that are currently being tested in our pilot areas for integrated mobility and logistics.

The MoLo Hubs Project centres around the integration of logistics services in mobility hubs in order to be able to offer more sustainable urban logistics and more attractive mobility hubs. This applies to both supply and disposal. Our unique “MoLo City” exhibition stand at the European Sustainable Cities & Towns Conference in Aalborg, Denmark, organised by ICLEI Europe, provided a good opportunity to exchange ideas on how these same cities and municipalities can promote, accelerate and implement sustainable solutions.

Here, the solutions trialled in MoLo Hubs provided inspiration for good practices, which many interested conference visitors were able to find out about. However, the high level of interest was not only due to the project itself - our project partner, the Municipality of Aalborg, built a complete fictitious ‘MoLo City’ out of LEGO with the creative co-operation of all partners, in which all the pilot tests of our project could be found in miniature format. Lego Serious Play Next Level! In addition, tablets provided detailed information about the individual pilot cities of the project.

And in the real world? Things are already making great strides there.

In Aalborg, 45 multi-use lockers have already been installed and are currently being trialled. During a study visit, which took place before the conference, the project partners visited a number of locations. In addition to receiving and sending parcels, the boxes can be used to recycle used textiles, dispose of household hazardous waste, lend library books and other applications in the future. Five prototypes for the simple return of deposit cups and crockery were tested during the citizens' festival held as part of the conference, which shorten queues and save staff resources.
