At the beginning of February 14 Master’s students and two professors from the University of Antwerp visited the "EcoHub" at Kaltenkircher Platz in Hamburg as part of their Winter School.
Markus Montag and Ramona Prignitz from the Host Partner Stadtreinigung Hamburg introduced the visitors to the station’s sustainable offerings, including:
♻️ products like yellow bags, dog waste bags, and compost from Hamburg’s organic waste
📚 A drop-off for books, smartphones, and toys - later sorted and sold at STILBRUCH second-hand stores
🛠️ Disposal points for fats, cooking oil, old clothes, and electronic waste
The EcoHub is one of five pilots in the MoLo Hubs project, which aims to bring logistics services closer to homes & shared mobility hubs and reduce urban traffic. Thomas Brauner from the Hamburg Logistics Initiative shared insights into the other pilot locations in Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
In addition, the students had the chance to visit the Digital Hub Logistics & Commerce in the morning. They learned about Hamburg’s logistics innovation and start-up ecosystems, presented by Gerhard Sells from Ditial Hub Logistics & Commerce and Luis Schröder from Nautiluslog.
