One of the most interesting implementations in the previous BITS project (2019-2022) was making use of the smart See.Sense bike lights in East Riding of Yorkshire. The data of these smart bike lights was used to collect cycling data from the users of a bike library, to stimulate them to cycle more and to use the data for cycling infrastructure planning.

In a new blog post of See.Sense the company reveals the transformative power of gender-disaggregated data in urban planning. Inspired by Caroline Criado Perez's groundbreaking work, See.Sense used the collected data from their smart bike lights in London to explore crucial insights into the preferences and safety concerns of female cyclists in London. This blog on the innovative use of floating bike data can be read here.
