The Zernike Complex, also known as Zernike Campus Groningen, is an area in the northern part of the city of Groningen, the Netherlands. Itis home to a concentration of buildings belonging to the University of Groningen (RUG) and the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, as well as branches of other knowledge institutions, companies, and specialised facilities. The Campus fosters an ecosystem for dynamic public-private collaboration, focused specifically on topics like the natural and life sciences and big data. With over 4000 researchers, 35,000 students, and 150 companies, this location full of bright minds acts as the Dutch brightly lit pilot site. Its Dutch dark counterpart in the project is the Dark Sky Park in Lauwersoog, where light pollution is considerably less.

The light pollution measuring station is located on the roof of the Bernoulliborg building, close to the dome of the Blaauw Observatory - a small observatory for education and outreach purposes. This pilot site includes a SQM, SQC and EOS RP camera.
