In the third call for proposals, the Interreg North Sea Monitoring Committee has approved the Green Supply Chains project application!
With limited funding remaining, the competition was fierce. Green Supply Chains was one of the 16 regular projects and 3 small-scale projects which have been approved.
The decisions made allocates just over €42,2 million in ERDF funding to the nominated projects.
GSC aims at providing synergies on green fuel- & electrification strategies from (inland) ports and greening strategies from regions affected by ports’ hinterland freight transport. To ensure market acceptance and openness for a wider port community (including smaller rural ports), GSC develops and tests best-practices, like OPS solutions for small ports(Skagen) or an innovative e-power supply solution (Brest). The pilots serve as blueprints for further roll-out in the NSR.
In this context, GSC considers shore side electricity and alternative fuel deployment, directly supports the green transition of the transport sector.Further, GSC matches port electrification strategies with regional strategies and by that considers greening potentials for freight hinterland transport (lifting synergies), through regional stakeholder involvement concepts and piloted multi-user approaches using alternative fuels. The market uptake will be supported by innovative ITS solutions, increasing the visibility of green transport solutions, ease the operation, and better connect ports with their regional hinterland.
GSC is funded by the Interreg North Sea Region Programme:
