On 16thJuly, a large group from the Province of Drenthe, including Grith colleagues, visited the old shipyard RDM in Rotterdam which is currently a breeding ground for innovation, sustainability and circular initiatives. The visit was arranged in cooperation with iTanks – a network organization for industries and businesses with a focus on circular economy and energy transition.
Pooling knowledge for potential solutions
By taking a closer look at innovative companies from Rotterdam's industry, the group hoped to learn more about the challenges, approach and potential solutions here in relation to the energy transition. In turn, these can be shared with the GRITH consortium in the future. There was also a focus on trends and developments in business activities, and expanding network connections and opportunities.
iTanks is a platform for both large and small businesses facing today’s challenges and supports the search for suitable solutions with the pooled knowledge of the largest innovative industrial network in the Netherlands. By connecting companies, knowledge institutes and industry experts and introducing the newest technology and the latest innovations.
Innovation in energy efficiency
For GRITH, just one of many interesting examples of this is the Intelligent Energy Management System - an innovative solution proposed by Senorfact BV, for industries to improve their energy efficiency. This is increasingly important now as a result of environmental legislation and global competitiveness. The Dutch company pitches their solution to help the industrial sector to significantly reduce their carbon footprint, energy use and energy bills using smart and simple sensor technology.
Richard Veldkamp, GRITH partner and policy advisor for economic development at the Province commented:“A trip like this often brings new insights and ideas. The examples we've seen for possible solutions for the energy transition by the start-ups at the Innovation Dock are particularly inspiring."
Thanks to iTanks
Many interesting examples of new, sustainable and circular solutions were shared during this well-organized tour. With thanks to iTanks and their network partners! These connections will also be valuable as we arrange the next GRITH online workshop on CRSD legislation this September.
More on that coming soon!
