During the course of the project the consortium is developing GRITH TOOLBOX containing a series of implementation products which can be considered useful for the support and facilitation of the energy transition on industrial and business sites. One such tool is the shared GRITH ENERGY SWOT and it's available now!

Energy transition, good business
In the fight against climate change the energy transition is necessary from a global and local perspective. GRITH strongly believes that the energy transition is also good for economic development and in most cases, good for business, especially those willing and able to adopt a mid- to longterm perspective. An energy SWOT helps to raise awareness on how the energy transition can be an opportunity and that the greatest threat may be to do nothing.
European, national and regional regulations are in place to push the energy transition forward. From the perspective of the a business or industrial site, these regulations could be considered more of a nuisance than an incentive, especially without proper perspective and explanation. To overcome these barriers, the GRITH partners use the SWOT tool to get and give insights for businesses.

Providing perspective & agency
When supporting sites and businesses in their transition and informing the project’s target group about new or adapted legislation, GRITH wants to avoid the image of 'bearer of bad news'.
In communication the consortium emphasizes that the energy transition is an opportunity, that doing nothing is not an option. The focus is on providing sites and businesses with perspective and the agency to act on opportunities, increase strengths, reduce weaknesses and to mitigate threats. As a next step the GRITH partners also develop business cases to show companies that investments in renewable energy can be profitable for their business in the mid to long term as well.

Approach & outcomes
The interconnections between businesses, industrial sites, regional development, national and European goals, makes it crucial to create an analysis based on insights into developments on all levels, as well as on data regarding the energy consumption and emissions of businesses and their industrial sites. GRITH has collected information on price development, current and potential future regulations, using this to create scenarios for a particular, site-based Energy SWOT.
