Students to help create new jobs on Hvaler
23 students from the bachelor's degree programme in innovation and project management at Østfold University College University College visited Hvaler municipality in May. Discussions with the municipality, politicians and 20 business organisations were to form the basis for an analyse the reality of the island community. The international EU-funded organisation Interreg North Sea has granted NOK 5 million to the to the research project FREIIA (Facilitating Resilience Embracing Islands Innovation Approaches). For three years, students will explore opportunities and challenges in island communities in the North Sea region. Hvaler is the Norwegian "laboratory", which will be visited by French and Danish students and host gatherings with researchers and local stakeholders. And the students will be travelling to other island communities to harvest and share knowledge. The students also visited Hvaler mayor Mona Vauger.
By staying overnight at Homlungen Lighthouse and eating at Big Fish, the students got to experience a part of fantastic Hvaler. Got a good overview of Hvaler

The students visited Big Fish, Ytre Hvaler vineyard, Papper development, Hvaler cultural association, Hvaler's mayor Mona Vauger, Papper velforening / Opplevelser Hvaler, Yt event / Development Vesterøy, Storm oysters, Sustainable housing for young people (development project), Herføl Marina, Hvaler Høyre, Hvaler Hytteforening, Hvaler Næringsforening, Hvaler Arbeiderparti, Hvaler destination council, Visit Hvaler/Fredrikstad, Ytre hvaler National Park / Visitor Centre, Taxi Båt, Cafe Oline, Hvaler municipality, Østfold University College and local residents.
