In Groix, the Ponant Islands share their experience at European level
FREIA members have worked on innovations in the northern islands of Europe. They are teachers, researchers, engineers and members of the FREIA program, which aims to identify the mechanisms of innovation on the northern islands of Europe: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands. For three days, 20 members of this association met in Groix under the chairmanship of Denis Bredin. The debates and lectures were orchestrated by Albert Ruiter, a native of the Frisian Islands (Netherlands).
Fresh water: a shared challenge
"This workshop on the island of Groix aims to share the experiences of the Ponant islands in terms of governance. We mentioned innovations on the island of Batz, Ouessant or Groix (creation of breweries, algae cultivation, electricity production with a tidal turbine). The issue of fresh water was addressed, a concern shared by all. The island of Groix is frequently cited for its capacity for innovation," says Albert Ruiter.
The logo of this association represents a walrus, a rare animal observed in the waters of the island of Batz. Monday evening was hosted by members of the FREIA program: clarinet, percussion and good humor.
