In July, the German Pilot Partners met in Kiel, state capital of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, to further discuss the German Pilot and its goals and outcomes.

The one and a half-day meeting was hosted by the Data for All partner Heinrich-Böll-Foundation. Together with the other German partners from the KielRegion, University of Oldenburg and atene KOM the team not only worked on the details of the pilot but also got to experience the bike-sharing in Kiel and the technical partner of the KielRegion data platform.

Leon Jamaer and Martin Kliesow (KielRegion) invited the German pilot partners to use the regional bike-sharing provider "SprottenFlotte”. To do so, the partners went to one of the 13 stations of the fleet and borrowed a bike each for the tour. Renting works via the app "DonkeyRepublic". After registering in the system, the respective bike displayed on a map can be rented. Leon and Martin guided the partners to the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament building where, in addition to a FlottenSprotte station, there is also a bicycle parking station and a station for the care of bicycles, which are available to all residents free of charge. Martin Kliesow talked about the costs and the planning process for the bicycle parking station. Afterwards, the tour continued along the Kiellinie on the bicycles to the next station on the tour.

The German pilot partners visited the KielRegion's technical partner "Addix" at the company's premises in the Kiel Hörn Campus. Mr Bordach and Mr Sjut welcomed the consortium and explained in a presentation the responsibilities of Addix within the framework of the KielRegion data platform. In particular, FIWARE was presented, which forms the basic framework of the data platform with technical standards for data maintenance and interoperability.

Once back at the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung the team continued working on the content of the German Pilot and its target groups (for whom?), the individual intentions (what for?), the contents of the pilot (what?) and which partner will take the lead in the respective area.

Two pillars emerged from this stage: Pillar 1 is dedicated to use case development and Pillar 2 is dedicated to knowledge transfer. A constant exchange between the project partners between the two pillars will be ensured.

Stay tuned for further development!
