Why Nijmegen?
The city's proximity to the Waal - one of Europe’s major waterways - presents real-world challenges and opportunities for shared river use. The meeting will take place right by the river, offering a direct connection to the pilot area and its ongoing experiments in sustainable waterway management.
What to Expect?
This event is more than just an internal meeting; it is an opportunity for collaboration, exchange, and inspiration. Throughout the gathering, we will:
- Share Updates & Learnings – As a Semestrial Meeting, this is our chance to keep everyone up to date on advances, setbacks, and insights in an open and warm setting
- Engage with Local Stakeholders – We will host joint sessions with local partners, introducing them to the Connected River project while allowing them to connect with our international consortium from six different countries
- Visit the Pilot Area – Experience Nijmegen’s pilot sites firsthand through guided visits and discussions on ongoing experiments and findings
- Deepen Transnational Reflection – The Connection and Reflection Group (CRG) will convene to focus on the transnational case of the Waal and the Rhine, offering external partners a space to contribute to our broader reflections and knowledge exchange
- Workshops & Masterclasses – Dedicated sessions on our different work packages will provide hands-on learning and deeper insights into the Flow Forward platform
- Activities on and Around the Water – We’ll take advantage of Nijmegen’s riverside setting with various activities, including sports and water-based experiences that highlight the importance of the river as a shared space
