Day 1 of the Circular Business Camp

Excitement is building as we embark on the upcoming Circular Business Innovation Program, now rebranded as the Circular Business Camp!

From an impressive pool of 34 applicants, we enthusiastically accepted all submissions. However, due to prior commitments and various reasons, 20 participants unfortunately had to withdraw, leaving us with a committed cohort of 15 individuals ready to dive into the program. The enthusiasm and dedication of our participants promise a dynamic and engaging experience at the Circular Business Camp.

A Dynamic Kickoff: Exploring Circularity

We couldn't have asked for a better start to our program as we dove headfirst into the world of circularity and business development. The energy in the room was palpable, and the participants in this round displayed an eagerness to delve into the realms of circular economy that made the entire program more enjoyable.

The day commenced with an informative introduction to the Boot Camp, shedding light on the participating partners and setting the stage for a collaborative learning experience. To gauge the participants' understanding of circularity, we employed a Mentimeter session, allowing us to tailor the program to the unique needs and knowledge levels of each individual.

With the stage set, we swiftly moved into the core concepts of circular economy, building upon the foundation laid by the first Circular Economy masterclass from the previous round which the participants had access to through recorded videos. We covered a spectrum of topics, including circular business models, R strategies, social sustainability, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the three pillars of circularity: economic, environmental, and social.

Next on the agenda was fostering connections among participants. We divided them into groups, creating a space for them not only to absorb the lectures but also to tap into each other's diverse knowledge. This interactive session laid the groundwork for a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

A pivotal moment in business development came as we explored the profound question: What is your WHY? Participants were encouraged to watch Simon Sinek's TED Talk on this topic, spending 10 minutes in solo brainstorming sessions to articulate their purpose. The day concluded with participants pitching their WHYs to the group, setting the tone for a camp focused not just on business strategies but on the deeper motivations driving them.

As we wrapped up the day, we outlined the end goal – a Circular Business Model Canvas and the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a jury.

In summary, the first day of our program was marked by engaging discussions, profound insights, and a room filled with happy and motivated participants. We eagerly anticipate the next workshop day, where we will continue this exciting journey toward a more circular and sustainable future. Stay tuned for more updates on our exploration of circularity and business development!
