This pilot examines the optimal water level for capturing CO2 emissions in peat soil while simultaneously adapting to climate change, expanding nature and increasing recreational areas. It aims for a water level that hampers decomposition of peat soil to reduce CO2 emissions without compromising the possibility for grazing, as grazing is important for nature conservation and for local farmers. It represents many of the challenges in land use change to accommodate multifunctionality.
